The implementation of the Verbal Process agreed between Angola and Cuba in 2013 topped the meeting that the director of the International Exchange Office of the Ministry of Mass Media, Maria de Lourdes, held on December 14 in the capital city Luanda with Raúl González Hernández, the Chief Counselor of the Press and Cultural Office of the Cuban Embassy to Angola.

“We reviewed the Memorandum of Cooperation signed in September 2013, on the occasion of the International Radio and Television Convention in Cuba, which was attended by a multispectral delegation from Angola,” the Cuban official said at the end of the meeting held in the Ministry of Mass Media.

The official pointed out that the Verbal Process deals with the exchange of information (exchange of radio and television contents), music and technical assistance in journalism, artistic training, and promotion of literature, among other areas, but has never known an effective implementation, hence the need to review the mechanisms of action.

In this regard, he said that it is imperative to have an Angolan delegation to Cuba in September 2019 to participate in the next edition of the International Convention on Radio and Television, within the framework of historical relations and brotherhood between the two nations.

In her turn, the director of the International Exchange Office of the Ministry of Social Communication, Maria de Lourdes, stressed the importance of the meeting, as it served to align ideas on how to implement the existing Memorandum of Cooperation.

She said that the financial difficulties that the country has been experiencing since 2014 have made it impossible to fully carry out the actions envisaged in the document, and therefore suggested a meeting with those in charge of the public media to find more expeditious ways forward.

Angola and Cuba established diplomatic relations on November 15, 1975, and since then have been considered historical and brotherhood relation.
