Zambia's President Edgar Lungu has sent a team of four ministers to Lundazi district of country's eastern province for the purpose of assessing the damage caused by the washed away Msuzi bridge. The bridge was washed away on December 21, 2018.

The team of ministers inspected the bridge on Sunday, December 23. One of them, after inspecting the washed away bridge, said the Road Development Agency will put a temporal bridge soon to allow movements of motorists between Lundazi and Chipata. For more information, Lusaka Times reported that the team comprised of Ronald Chitotela (Infrastructure Development Minister), Freedom Sikazwe (Presidential Affairs Minister), Makebi Zulu (Eastern Province Minister) and Sylvia Chalikosa (Minister in Vice President's Office).

According to Ronald Chitotela, the construction of a temporal bridge will be accomplished by RDA in association with the Zambia Army and Zambia National Service in a period of approximately seven days. The motorists are now being asked to utilize a temporal bypass from Chipata through Zimwanda to access Lundazi.

On the other hands, the ministers have asked to construct the bridge in the shortest possible time to ensure the distribution of farming inputs to the district is not disrupted. Whereas, Makebi Zulu has called for keeping calmness among the people as the government is working 24x7 to make the bridge passable.
