The Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) leader N Venu has allegedly received a letter threatening to kill him and also the son of the party founder and slain TP Chandrasekharan, Abhinand if the party leaders continued to criticize CPI(M) leaders.

Kozhikode Rural SP A Sreenivas told PTI that the letter addressed to N Venu, RMP secretary, was received at the party MLA's office in Vadakara here.

''It appears that the letter has been posted in SM Street post office... A case was registered last(Monday) evening and is being investigated,'' he said.

RMP sources here said the letter has been signed as ''PJ Voice''.

According to sources, there is a campaign group by supporters of veteran CPI(M) leader P Jayarajan, named P J Army, which has been active in social media for some time.

In a tight fight against the CPI(M)-led LDF candidate, RMP leader and widow of TP Chandrasekharan was elected from the Vadakara Assembly constituency in the April 6 elections.

A former DYFI Kozhikode district secretary and a CPI(M) member, TP Chandrasekharan had formed a splinter party by the name RMP in 2009.

A firebrand leader, TP, as he was popularly known among his followers, was hacked to death by political goons allegedly hired by the Marxist party in 2012.

As per the post-mortem report, Chandrasekharan had received 51 injuries on his body.

Several of the accused in the case were local CPI (M) workers, besides goons hired to execute the murder.

In 2014, a special court had sentenced 11 people, three of them local CPI(M) functionaries, to life imprisonment.PTI COR LGKBN BALA LGKBN BALA
