U.S. and Chinese officials are expected to meet in Beijing next week to discuss curbing the flow of fentanyl into the United States, a person familiar with the plans told Reuters on Friday.

U.S. President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping last year agreed to deepen cooperation to stem the flow of fentanyl precursor chemicals from China, which are often mixed by Mexican drug gangs before distribution in the U.S.

The White House declined to comment on Friday.
