In a strategic move, senior leaders of the INDIA bloc convened on Saturday to fine-tune their plans for the imminent vote count on June 4. Intriguingly, the TMC and PDP were absent; the former occupied with state elections and the latter due to personal reasons.

The meeting, held at Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's residence, saw the participation of high-profile leaders including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and K C Venugopal. The gathering aimed at discussing various preparatory measures as the final phase of polling unfolded.

Mamata Banerjee and Mehbooba Mufti were notably absent, with Banerjee citing election commitments in West Bengal. Meanwhile, DMK's M K Stalin indicated that the session marked a significant step towards a new chapter for India, emphasizing the importance of vigilance regarding EVMs and Form 17C during the count.
