SKM Triumphs in Sikkim: Sweeping Majority in Assembly Polls

The Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) clinched seven Assembly seats and led in 24 others, according to the Election Commission of India. Amid tight security, the counting of votes began at 6 am on Sunday. Key victories include Samdup Lepcha, Puran Kumar Gurung, and Pintso Namgyal Lepcha. SKM's Prem Singh Tamang leads comfortably in Rhenock.

The Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) has made significant strides in the latest assembly elections, securing seven seats and taking the lead in 24 more, as per the Election Commission of India.

The counting of votes for 32 assembly seats began at 6 am on Sunday, under stringent security measures. Among the key winners for SKM are Samdup Lepcha in Lachen Mangan, Puran Kumar Gurung in Chujachen, and Pintso Namgyal Lepcha in Djongu.

Additionally, SKM's Chief Minister candidate, Prem Singh Tamang, is leading by a substantial margin in Rhenock, reinforcing the party's dominant position. Former CM Pawan Kumar Chamling of the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) and former India Football captain Bhaichung Bhutia also face significant defeats.
