Madhya Pradesh is poised for a crucial day as the counting of votes for the 29 Lok Sabha seats starts on Tuesday. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), fresh off a landslide victory in the November assembly elections, is eyeing a clean sweep.

Counting will commence at 8 AM across all 52 districts where the polls were divided into four phases held on April 19, 26, May 7, and 13. With voter turnout reported at 66.87%, the election commission data showed a higher participation from men at 69.37% compared to 64.24% from women.

The outcome will determine the political future of several heavyweights including senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh and state BJP chief VD Sharma. A robust three-layer security system, including 18 central forces and 10,000 district security personnel, has been instituted to ensure the smooth execution of the counting process.
