Kerala Prepares for High-Stakes Vote Counting in Lok Sabha Elections

All systems are go for the counting of votes cast in the April 26 Lok Sabha elections in Kerala, scheduled to take place across 20 centres on Tuesday.
In total, 194 candidates are competing for 20 seats, making this election a key contest for the ruling LDF, the UDF, and the NDA.
Chief Electoral Officer Sanjay Kaul emphasized that transparency and security measures are in place for the vote counting process.
'District collectors reviewed final preparations this evening and are confident about the procedure,' Kaul stated on Monday.
Counting will kick off at 8 a.m., starting with postal ballots. Half an hour later, the counting of votes from voting machines will begin.
'Initial trends should emerge by 9 a.m.,' explained Kaul.
A unified system will provide real-time results to the public and media via the Election Commission's website and the Voter Helpline app.
This is a first for any Lok Sabha election, with real-time updates being accessible through the Election Commission's ENCORE software.
Dedicated media centres and digital display boards have also been set up at all counting centres.
Notably, several educational institutions have been converted into counting centres.
Only authorized individuals, including counting supervisors, assistants, micro-observers, and candidates' agents, will be allowed in the counting halls, each outfitted with 14 tables overseen by designated officials to ensure transparency.
