The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) managed to secure victories in three Lok Sabha seats in Punjab, falling short of the ambitious target set by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to win all 13 parliamentary constituencies in the state.
The Congress emerged stronger, winning six seats and leading in one, whereas the Shiromani Akali Dal claimed just one seat. Despite a strategic move to contest separately from their INDIA bloc ally, the Congress, AAP improved its position from its 2019 performance, where it could bag only one seat.
Leading AAP's charge, candidates Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, Malwinder Singh Kang, and Raj Kumar Chabbewal won in Sangrur, Anandpur Sahib, and Hoshiarpur constituencies, respectively.
