Modi Cabinet Recommends Lok Sabha Dissolution Post-Election Results

After a meeting at his residence, a day after the general election results were announced, Modi formally recommended the dissolution to President Droupadi Murmu and submitted his resignation, sources confirmed.

Prime Minister Modi visited President Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, offering his resignation along with that of the Union Council of Ministers. The President accepted the resignation and requested that they continue to serve until a new government takes office, as stated by Rashtrapati Bhawan officials.

Discussions on the election results were held during the cabinet meeting, followed by a council of ministers meeting. The 17th Lok Sabha’s term concludes on June 16.

The BJP secured 240 seats, and the NDA achieved a clear majority in the 543-member house, while the main opposition party, Congress, won 99 seats.
