Sharad Pawar's NCP Triumphs in Maharashtra

Veteran politician Sharad Pawar's faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) achieved significant success in Maharashtra, securing 8 out of 10 contested Lok Sabha seats. This contrasts starkly with the performance of his nephew Ajit Pawar's NCP faction, which won just one of four seats. The Congress also made a notable resurgence.

Veteran politician Sharad Pawar's faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has demonstrated remarkable grassroots support, clinching an impressive 80% success rate by winning 8 out of 10 Lok Sabha seats it contested in Maharashtra.

In a stark contrast, the Nationalist Congress Party led by his estranged nephew and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar managed to secure only one of the four seats it contested, translating to a 25% success rate.

The Congress, a significant player in Maharashtra's political landscape, made a commendable comeback. It won 13 out of the 17 seats contested, achieving a 75% success rate, marking a significant improvement from its 2019 polls performance.

Notably, the NCP (Sharad Pawar) secured most of its victories in western Maharashtra, the stronghold of Sharad Pawar, while the Ajit Pawar faction secured only the Raigad constituency.

The BJP, vying for 28 seats, managed to win 9, achieving a strike rate of 31%, while its ally, Shiv Sena, led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, won 7 of the 15 seats contested, achieving a 45% strike rate.

The rival Shiv Sena faction under Uddhav Thackeray secured a 41% strike rate by winning 9 of the 21 seats contested.

Independent candidate Vishal Patil won the Sangli constituency, representing a unique political dynamic as he identifies as a Congressman.

Overall, the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance, composed of Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (Sharad Pawar), and Congress, won 30 of the total 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra, while the Mahayuti alliance of BJP, Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar-led NCP won 17 seats.
