China has formally expressed discontent towards India following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's social media post acknowledging Taiwan President Lai Ching-te. China, which considers Taiwan a renegade province, insists that New Delhi refrain from engaging with Taiwan's political maneuvers.
Modi’s comments came as a response to Lai's congratulatory message on his recent election win. Lai, inaugurated as Taiwan's President last month, expressed his intention to expand the India-Taiwan partnership across various sectors.
In his reply, Modi highlighted the mutual benefits of an economic and technological partnership with Taiwan. Following this exchange, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning reaffirmed China's stance, protesting against any form of official interaction between Taiwan and nations that have diplomatic ties with China.
