Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Saturday embarked on a statewide tour of Punjab to connect with his party's workers across all parliamentary constituencies.
Out of the 13 Lok Sabha seats in the state, SAD managed to clinch only one in the recently concluded general elections. While expressing gratitude to SAD workers for their dedication during the polls, Badal urged them to brace for a robust performance in the forthcoming by-elections.
During his tour, the SAD president visited the homes of party candidates Iqbal Singh Jhunda in Amargarh and Ranjit Singh Dhillon in Ludhiana, holding meetings with party leaders and workers at both locations.
Badal firmly stated that the SAD is the sole party capable of safeguarding the rights of Punjab and its people, vowing to continue their fight for issues such as the protection of river waters and the transfer of Chandigarh as Punjab's capital. He also highlighted the party's demand for a legal guarantee on the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers. Encouraging the workers not to be demoralized by the recent election outcome, Badal declared, "We must prepare for the upcoming by-elections."
Badal also addressed the need to expose the alleged corruption and misrule of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which he claimed had led to the state's financial troubles and an increase in drug addiction and gangster culture. He pointed out that the alliance between AAP and the Congress was revealed during the election, with both parties allegedly colluding to marginalize the SAD. "People have witnessed how the Delhi-based parties conspired against us," Badal added.
