L Murugan, a seasoned Dalit BJP leader and advocate from Tamil Nadu, recently ascended to ministerial heights, exemplifying his organizational prowess honed over 25 years of grassroots work. Murugan's journey began as a student activist, later aligning with RSS and ABVP before joining the BJP.
Hailing from Namakkal district, Murugan has been deeply involved in the Nilgiris (reserved) constituency for over two years, channeling his efforts into the implementation of central welfare schemes. His determined campaign, despite his loss to DMK's A Raja in the Nilgiris seat, earned him recognition and respect within the party.
In 2020, Murugan spearheaded the 'Vel yatra' in Tamil Nadu amidst opposition and pandemic restrictions, showcasing his unyielding resolve. Although he was the runner-up in the Nilgiris constituency with 2,32,627 votes, his commitment to grassroots politics led to his recent appointment as a minister.
