In the wake of the US Consulate in Sydney being vandalized, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has urged activists on both sides of the Israel-Palestinian debate to 'turn the heat down' and engage in respectful political discourse. CCTV footage captured an individual in a dark hoodie using a sledgehammer to smash reinforced glass windows early on Monday morning.

The incident also involved the painting of two inverted red triangles, symbols often associated with Palestinian resistance, on the consulate's front. Despite the damage, officials stated that the consulate was closed due to a public holiday but would reopen Tuesday.

Albanese highlighted the emotional impact on those with relatives in the conflict zones and stressed that such acts of vandalism do not further any cause but constitute a crime. New South Wales Premier Chris Minns echoed this sentiment, urging Australians to express their views without resorting to violence. This incident follows similar acts of vandalism on US consulates in Australia earlier this year.
