In a notable diplomatic gesture, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday extended his congratulations to Narendra Modi, who assumed office for a historic third consecutive term.

Modi took the oath of office on Sunday, leading a 72-member Union Council of Ministers under the BJP-led NDA government. Despite not being invited to the swearing-in ceremony in New Delhi, due to strained India-Pakistan relations, Sharif conveyed his wishes via social media platform X.

Leaders from the Indian subcontinent and the Indian Ocean region, including Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu and Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', attended the ceremony.
