BJP leader Chandrakant Patil has raised questions over Uddhav Thackeray's campaign efforts during the recent Lok Sabha elections. Despite Thackeray's extensive efforts, the Congress and NCP seemed to have gained more from his campaign than his own party, according to Patil. Speaking at an event, the senior Maharashtra minister expressed concerns about Thackeray's health during the campaign but noted that the results did not favor Shiv Sena (UBT).
'Thackeray's health was not in good condition, yet he put in a great amount of effort. However, the outcome shows that NCP and Congress benefitted more than Shiv Sena,' Patil said. He pointed out that while Thackeray's party used to win 18 seats when aligned with BJP, it managed only nine this time.
Thackeray's Shiv Sena (UBT) contested 21 out of 48 seats in the state but secured only nine wins. In contrast, Congress contested 17 seats and won 13, while the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) contested 10 seats and won eight. Patil further alluded to Thackeray's victory being influenced by minority votes, stating that 'the colour of Uddhav's victory is not saffron but green.'
