In a rare election for the Lok Sabha speaker's post, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has decided to back Congress' candidate, K Suresh.

This move was confirmed during a meeting of the opposition INDIA bloc leaders, where TMC affirmed their support for Suresh. Key TMC figures, including Derek O'Brien and Kalyan Banerjee, were present at the meeting.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was seen engaging with TMC’s Abhishek Banerjee in the House and also conversed for nearly 20 minutes with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, underscoring this strategic collaboration.
