CPI Denounces Pro-Left Social Media Over Gold Smuggling Links

The CPI condemned certain social media platforms claiming to support the Left but linked to illegal activities like gold smuggling. Party Secretary Binoy Viswam emphasized the need for the Left movement to distance itself from these elements to regain public trust.

The Communist Party of India (CPI), a key ally in Kerala's ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF), has strongly criticized certain social media platforms. These platforms, which claim to support the Left, have been found connected to anti-social activities, including gold smuggling.

CPI state secretary Binoy Viswam, in a forceful statement, highlighted the involvement of these platforms in recent setbacks faced by the Left movement. He expressed the Left supporters' frustration in discovering that such platforms are actually linked to the underworld.

Viswam stressed that the Left movement can only regain the public's trust by deliberately distancing itself from these dubious elements. This statement follows allegations against several CPI(M) leaders in Kannur over their associations with gold smuggling and illicit activities.
