Maharashtra Opposition Gears Up for Legislative Council Elections

Uddhav Thackeray, president of Shiv Sena (UBT), and Jayant Patil, NCP's Maharashtra chief, attended a Congress-organized dinner meeting to strategize for Friday's elections to 11 seats of Maharashtra's Legislative Council. Leaders from Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP (SP) discussed their opposition strategy for the biennial elections.

On Thursday, Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray and NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) Maharashtra unit chief Jayant Patil attended a dinner meeting organized by Congress MLAs to finalize the opposition's strategy for Friday's elections to 11 Legislative Council seats.

Ramesh Chennithala, AICC in-charge of Maharashtra, and Vijay Wadettiwar, Leader of Opposition in the state assembly, hosted the meeting at a city hotel on the eve of the critical elections. The Congress, NCP (SP), and Shiv Sena (UBT) are part of the opposition alliance, Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).

The electoral contest involves 12 candidates, including PWP candidate Jayant Patil and Shiv Sena (UBT)'s Milind Narvekar. The elections come just three months before the assembly polls in the state.
