Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Friday described the victory of all nine Mahayuti candidates in the Legislative Council polls as a precursor to the state assembly elections later this year.

Speaking to reporters, Shinde said that the opposition had created a false narrative during the Lok Sabha polls, which misled people. He emphasized that Mahayuti's win marks a significant start and disproves claims that the BJP would change the Constitution.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also noted that despite opposition claims, the Mahayuti alliance not only received votes from its constituents but also additional support from Maha Vikas Aghadi legislators. The BJP secured five seats, while the Shiv Sena and NCP won two each. Meanwhile, from the opposition, Milind Narvekar of Shiv Sena (UBT) and Pradnya Satav of Congress were elected.
