Congress candidates who emerged victorious in the Uttarakhand by-elections have extended their gratitude to the public, emphasizing the significance of these results for the party in the state.
Qazi Mohammad Nizamuddin, who secured the Manglaur assembly seat, described the outcome as a triumph of democracy over hooliganism. Nizamuddin remarked, 'This is a big win for Congress. It is a win for all our MLAs and Congress leaders. This win is 'lathtantra ke upar loktantra ki jeet'.'
Lakhapat Singh Butola, elected from the Badrinath assembly seat, also thanked his constituents, acknowledging both direct and indirect support in his fight for justice. 'I want to thank the people of Badrinath. The credit for this goes to all those who supported me,' he stated.
Senior Congress leader Harish Rawat praised the victories, asserting they represented the people's morale and opposition to the government's autocratic tendencies. Rawat said, 'The government showed its autocratic face and used force. The people of the country opposed this and ensured Congress' win. It is the justice of Lord Ram that led to a Congress win in Ayodhya, and now the same has happened in Uttarakhand. We will keep winning. BJP's days are over. The Badrinath victory is as significant as the Congress win in Ayodhya.'
