Congress Appoints Key Leaders for Lok Sabha

Congress has named Gaurav Gogoi as the deputy leader in the Lok Sabha, with Sonia Gandhi informing Speaker Om Birla of the decision. Kodikunnil Suresh will serve as chief whip, while Manickam Tagore and Mohammad Jawed are appointed as whips. Rahul Gandhi is named Leader of Opposition.

The Congress party has appointed Gaurav Gogoi as its deputy leader in the Lok Sabha, according to a letter sent by Sonia Gandhi to Speaker Om Birla.

Sonia Gandhi, Chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party, informed Birla of the latest appointments in the Congress leadership. These include the deputy leader, chief whip, and two whips for the party in the Lower House, as articulated by AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal on platform X.

While Gogoi is set to assume the role of deputy leader, eight-time MP from Kerala, Kodikunnil Suresh, will take on the responsibilities of chief whip. Additionally, Virudhunagar MP Manickam Tagore and Kishanganj MP Mohammad Jawed have been named as party whips.

Earlier, the Congress party announced Rahul Gandhi as the Leader of Opposition. Under the guidance of LoP Rahul Gandhi, both Congress and the INDIA parties aim to robustly advocate for the people's interests in the Lok Sabha, Venugopal stated.
