S Jaishankar's Diplomatic Mission to Mauritius to Boost Bilateral Ties

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is set to embark on a two-day visit to Mauritius starting Tuesday, aiming to strengthen bilateral ties. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced that Jaishankar will meet with Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth and other senior ministers during his visit.

The trip marks one of the first high-level engagements by the external affairs minister following his re-appointment. It also follows the recent visit of Mauritius' Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth to India for the swearing-in ceremony of the new cabinet and council of ministers, according to the MEA.

Highlighting the significance of the visit, the MEA noted that this is Jaishankar's first visit to Mauritius since February 2021. The trip underscores the importance of the India-Mauritius relationship and reflects India's 'Neighbourhood First Policy,' Vision SAGAR, and commitment to the Global South.

During his visit, Jaishankar will also engage with other prominent leaders in Mauritius. The MEA added that the visit will offer an opportunity to thoroughly review various facets of the bilateral relationship, emphasizing the deep and multidimensional ties between the two nations.
