On Thursday, the BJP and JD(S) opposition parties in Karnataka staged a walkout from the Legislative Assembly, protesting the absence of Ministers. Speaker U T Khader sharply criticized the ruling party's lack of discipline, highlighting that their behavior tarnishes the government's reputation.

As the session began, Leader of Opposition R Ashoka and senior BJP legislators pointed to the empty treasury benches and questioned the Speaker about the absence of Ministers. The ruling party's chief whip Ashok Pattan noted that some Ministers were engaged in the Legislative Council, but opposition leaders demanded a roll call of the absent Ministers.

In a heated exchange, Khader reprimanded the ruling party, emphasizing that those required to be present must attend. Despite some senior Ministers like H C Mahadevappa being in attendance, the opposition remained dissatisfied, leading to a walkout. They condemned the ruling party's conduct as irresponsible and disrespectful to the Assembly proceedings.

Upon returning, Ashoka countered accusations from ruling party MLAs that the walkout was staged for media attention. The confrontation underscored ongoing tensions within Karnataka's Legislative Assembly, reflecting broader political discord.
