The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz's decision to ban jailed former prime minister Imran Khan's embattled party received significant support on Thursday after the Pakistan Peoples Party, a key coalition partner, backed all Cabinet decisions, according to Information Minister Atta Tarar.
This endorsement comes after initial uncertainty whether the PPP, led by Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, would support the measure. Some senior PPP leaders reportedly hesitated to back the government's plan.
PPP Secretary General Nayyar Hussain Bokhari clarified on social media platform X that the party stands with the federal government, although he stopped short of explicitly supporting the PTI ban. The move indicates ongoing consultations within the ruling coalition. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar emphasized that the final decision will be made after all allies are consulted.
