US Pushes India to Back Ukraine Peace Efforts

The US has called on India to support its ongoing efforts for a lasting and just peace in Ukraine, according to the State Department. Bilateral cooperation between the two nations remains strong, with the call for support coming amid recent high-level meetings.
Vedant Patel, Principal Deputy Spokesperson for the State Department, highlighted that India remains a key partner in several areas. This was evident during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's state visit last summer. Even in the context of Ukraine, the US continues to ask India to back efforts to end Russia's aggression and uphold Ukraine's sovereignty.
During Modi's visit to Russia for the 22nd India-Russia annual summit, he advocated for a peaceful resolution, stressing that conflicts cannot be resolved on the battlefield. Despite not condemning Russia's invasion, India has consistently promoted dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the conflict.
