TMC Blasts Union Budget for Neglecting Ghatal Master Plan and Bengal Crisis

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) criticized Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for omitting the Ghatal Master Plan, crucial for flood management in Bengal's Paschim and Purba Medinipur districts, in her Budget speech. The TMC also condemned the exclusion of Ganga erosion issues affecting Malda and Murshidabad. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced state resources will be used to implement the master plan. Bengal's Ghatal MP, Deepak Adhikari aka Dev, termed the non-allocation as 'vindictive politics' by the central government.

Additionally, the Budget overlooked long-standing Ganga erosion issues in districts like Malda and Murshidabad, which have consistently attracted national attention.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced that the state government would proceed with implementing the master plan using its resources, citing the Centre's lack of response.
