Opposition Unites to Protest 'Discriminatory' Union Budget

Members of the INDIA bloc have decided to protest within Parliament and also outside against the perceived discrimination in the Union Budget towards opposition-ruled states. The decision was made at a meeting led by prominent Congress leaders including Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi. Various leaders accused the budget of being unfair and not representative of all states.

Members of the INDIA bloc parties have announced their intention to stage protests both in Parliament and outside against what they call 'discrimination' in the Union Budget towards states governed by the opposition. This decision was made during a meeting at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's residence on Tuesday evening.

The gathering saw the presence of several prominent figures, including Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, Lok Sabha counterpart Rahul Gandhi, Pramod Tiwari, Gaurav Gogoi, Sharad Pawar, Sanjay Raut, Derek O'Brien, Kalyan Banerjee, T R Baalu, Mahua Maji, Raghav Chadha, Sanjay Singh, and John Brittas, among others.

Congress general secretaries K C Venugopal and Jairam Ramesh also attended the meeting. Venugopal labeled the Union Budget as 'extremely discriminatory' and 'dangerous,' asserting it goes against federal principles. Consequently, Congress chief ministers plan to boycott the NITI Aayog meeting scheduled for July 27, highlighting widespread dissent against the current administration.
