The BJP in Karnataka announced a day-and-night dharna in both the Legislative Assembly and Council on Wednesday, protesting the alleged fraudulent site allotments by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) to land losers, with plots given to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's wife.
The opposition was not allowed to discuss the issue in both Houses today, with the legislative session set to conclude on Friday. Assembly Speaker U T Khader rejected the opposition's adjournment motion notice on the matter.
While the ruling Congress cited rules against such a discussion, the BJP pointed to a needle of suspicion surrounding the Chief Minister's family. The opposition alleged political motives behind the formation of an inquiry commission, claiming it aimed to prevent a House debate on the issue.
