TMC's Abhishek Banerjee Criticizes 2024-25 Budget

Banerjee argued that the budget is aimed at appeasing coalition partners and neglects the common man. He also charged the government with failing to fulfill its promises.

Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee on Wednesday criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi's coalition government, labeling it as 'creaky, shaky, and vulnerable.' Banerjee argued that the government's budget for 2024-25 only caters to two states, ignoring the interests of the wider population.

Participating in the budget discussion, Banerjee accused Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman of presenting an 'anti-people' budget aimed at appeasing coalition partners within the ruling NDA. He asserted that the budget lacks vision and fails to provide relief to the common people, negating the needs of 140 crore citizens.

Banerjee further suggested that the 2024 general elections will serve as a referendum on the BJP's 'arrogance and divisive politics.' He claimed the government is on borrowed time and forecasted its downfall. The budget, he asserted, has betrayed marginalized communities and failed to address employment and economic issues.
