West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee confirmed on Friday her participation in the upcoming NITI Aayog meeting in Delhi on July 27. This move comes amidst widespread speculation of her potential absence alongside other CMs of the INDIA bloc.
Speaking to reporters at Kolkata airport before her departure to Delhi, Banerjee stressed her intention to protest against what she termed a 'discriminatory budget' and a 'conspiracy to divide Bengal and other opposition-ruled states.' She stated she had submitted her written speech seven days in advance, in compliance with the meeting's requirements.
Banerjee said, 'If I get an opportunity to deliver my speech at the meeting and record my protest against the discrimination and political bias against the opposition-ruled states, besides the conspiracy that is being hatched to divide Bengal and its neighboring states, I will do so. Else, I will walk out of the meeting.'
