Election strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor announced on Sunday that he will form a new political party on Gandhi Jayanti, October 2. The announcement is significant as it comes ahead of the Bihar assembly elections.

Speaking at the Jan Suraaj Abhiyan event at Bapu Sabhaghar in Patna, Kishor revealed that the party's foundation stone would be laid on October 2, with more than one lakh people as its office bearers. He clarified that he would not lead the party; instead, leaders would be elected from their assembly constituencies.

Kishor expressed confidence in winning the 2025 Bihar assembly elections. During the meeting, notable figures, including former Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur's granddaughter Dr. Jagriti, joined the Jan Suraaj campaign.

An independent candidate from Buxar in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Anand Mishra, also joined the party, praising Kishor's efforts. Additionally, Professor Rambali Singh Chandravanshi took membership, impressed by Kishor's development goals for the state.

Earlier, a Jan Suraaj Party press release stated that the party would be formed on October 2, 2024. To prepare, eight state-level meetings with more than 1.5 lakh officials are planned. These meetings aim to discuss the party's formation, leadership, constitution, and priorities, starting with an initial meeting in Patna on July 28.
