Defence Minister Raj Nath Singh on Monday accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of misleading the nation on the sensitive issues of national security and the Agnipath initiative. Singh announced his readiness to address Parliament and provide necessary clarifications.
Speaking in the Lok Sabha shortly after Gandhi's remarks on the Union budget, Singh asserted that the opposition leader had propagated several misconceptions about the budget. He assured that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman would offer clarification when she replied to the debate.
Singh emphasized the gravity of national security, highlighting the role of soldiers in protecting the country's borders and criticized attempts to mislead the nation regarding the Agniveer initiative. He also pointed out a discrepancy in Gandhi's claim about the compensation for Agniveer martyrs, noting it was insurance payment and not compensation.
