Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday announced that an investment of Rs 81,000 crores has been approved, promising to create 20,000 direct jobs and around 1 lakh indirect jobs in the state.
Addressing media personnel, CM Shinde revealed, 'A Cabinet sub-committee has approved the investment, set to bring in over 1 lakh investments in the semiconductor industry. Our government is providing essential support.'
The Maharashtra government has adopted a liberal policy to prioritize industries, a move that Shinde says will propel the state's economy towards the $1 trillion mark, contributing to PM Modi's $5 trillion economy target.
Earlier in the day, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Maharashtra government and NSDC International Limited to establish a skill-based certificate course center in Pune. This initiative aims to provide employment opportunities for the state’s youth, both domestically and internationally.
The agreement, signed in the presence of Chief Minister Shinde, marks a significant step in enhancing the skill set and employability of Maharashtra's young workforce.
