A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been submitted to the Allahabad High Court against Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya. The litigation arises from Maurya's controversial statement proclaiming that 'Party organisation is bigger than the government,' a remark perceived as undermining the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Filed by advocate Manjesh Kumar Yadav, the petition argues that Maurya's comments demean the dignity of his office and cast doubts on the credibility of the government. Additionally, the petition highlights Maurya's criminal background, citing seven cases against him prior to his deputy CM appointment as a significant concern.
The silence from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the state Governor, and the Election Commission amplifies the seriousness of the issue. The petition, now with the high court registry, is expected to be listed for hearing within the coming days.
