July reported the highest number of deaths at Asha Kiran Shelter Home, situated in Delhi's Rohini area, with 14 fatalities according to an official report. Controversy surrounds these deaths, prompting immediate action from local authorities.

The report states that from February 2024, 25 deaths were recorded, 14 of which occurred in July alone (Male-6, Female-8). The primary causes were loose motion, unconsciousness, mild fever, loose stools, and vomiting. The Delhi Government has been informed of these findings.

Reacting to the situation, Delhi Minister and AAP leader Atishi announced a magisterial enquiry into the incident with a preliminary report expected within 24 hours. She assured strict action against any official found negligent. Meanwhile, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena called for a comprehensive inquiry into all GNCTD-run shelters, including Asha Kiran Home, with a report due in a week. The National Commission for Women (NCW) chief Rekha Sharma criticized the shelter's conditions, highlighting severe overcrowding and lack of basic amenities.
