MLAs Meet Activist Over Maratha Quota Issue

Four MLAs met activist Manoj Jarange in Jalna district to discuss the Maratha quota issue. Jarange demanded reservations for Marathas under the OBC segment by issuing Kunbi certificates. He emphasized the need for the state government to act swiftly and suggested multiple reservation options.

Four MLAs, including two from the BJP and one from the Shiv Sena, met with activist Manoj Jarange in Jalna district on Saturday to address the contentious Maratha quota issue.

The delegation consisted of BJP's Narayan Kuche from Badnapur and Ranajagatjitsinha Patil from Tuljapur, Shiv Sena's Balaji Kalyankar from Nanded North, and Independent legislator Rajendra Raut from Barshi.

Jarange reiterated his call for reserving Maratha representation under the OBC category by issuing Kunbi certificates, and announced a community meeting on August 29 to discuss the next steps.

Stressing his lack of political ambitions, Jarange said the prolonged governmental inaction had forced him and his supporters to become politically active. He called for the community's reservations under either OBC, Economically Weaker Section (EWS), or Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) categories.

Jarange assured the legislators that granting the quota would earn the government's respect and urged them to recognize Marathas as Kunbis. The delegation promised to relay his demands to the state government for a prompt resolution.
