Political Turmoil: Allegations Against Congress MLA and Son in Dalit Officer's Tragic Death

A case has been registered against Congress MLA Channareddy Tannur and his son for allegedly driving Dalit sub-inspector Parashuram to suicide following his transfer. The MLA and his son demanded a bribe, according to the deceased's wife. The incident has ignited political controversy, with BJP and JD(S) criticizing the government.

A case has been lodged against Congress MLA Channareddy Tannur and his son Pampanagouda Tannur after Dalit sub-inspector Parashuram allegedly committed suicide following his transfer within a mere seven months of posting.

According to a complaint filed by Parashuram's wife, Shwetha N V, the MLA and his son demanded Rs 30 lakh from him to continue in his post. Shwetha, who is pregnant, discovered Parashuram hospitalized with severe bleeding and learned about his undue emotional distress post-transfer.

In a show of solidarity, members of the Dalit Sangharsh Samiti (DSS) took to the streets, blocking traffic and demanding justice. Shwetha joined them, accusing the police department of siding with the influential MLA. Home Minister G Parameshwara has since ordered a thorough investigation but ruled out suicide, stating no death note was found. The incident has sparked a political feud, with opposition parties, including BJP and JD(S), castigating the government for neglecting honest officers.
