Sukhbir Singh Badal, the leader of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), has restructured the party's core committee in response to internal rebellion. This move comes just days after terminating the party's highest decision-making body.

The newly formed core committee includes 23 members and four ex-officio special invitees, notably Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) chief Harjinder Singh Dhami. Senior SAD leaders like Balwinder Singh Bhundar, Naresh Gujral, and others have also been inducted.

The reconstitution follows the July 23 dissolution of the previous committee. Amidst the party's worst rebellion, several dissenting leaders were expelled, including Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa and Prem Singh Chandumajra. These reforms are seen as an effort to stabilize and reinforce the fractured party.
