Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy filed a writ petition in the High Court on Monday, seeking the restoration of his security cover to its previous level as of June 3.

Reddy, also the YSR Congress Party chief, argued that his security has been cut to 59 personnel without any prior notification from the state's TDP-led government. He emphasized that the reduction poses significant safety risks given the current political climate.

The former CM maintained that this action violates principles of natural justice, especially since the cut came within a month after the election results. He noted that although his Z+ security status was not officially downgraded, the actual number of guards assigned to him has drastically decreased.

Reddy stated that he previously had 139 security personnel assigned to him after his victory in the 2019 Assembly polls.
