External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday addressed an all-party meeting, confirming India's support to former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who arrived in India following civil unrest in her nation.

Briefing political leaders, Jaishankar assured that India has communicated with the Bangladesh Army Chief to ensure the safety of over 10,000 Indian students in Bangladesh.

The minister did not dismiss potential foreign influence in the crisis and emphasized that the government is vigilant of the evolving situation.

Gandhi queried about the involvement of foreign governments in escalating the crisis.

Jaishankar noted that properties belonging to minorities were targeted in Bangladesh.

Hasina, who is currently in a state of shock, has been given time to recuperate before discussing her future plans.

Various leaders, including Gandhi and Reddy, expressed their full support for the government's measures.

Post-meeting, Jaishankar appreciated the unanimous support from different political parties, mentioning this in a post on X.

Chidambaram, while not present, echoed support for national security and interests.

Bangladesh has seen major unrest leading to Hasina's departure, with multiple leaders, including Rajnath Singh and Supriya Sule, attending the briefing.
