BJP MPs criticised opposition parties on Friday for their silence on the plight of Hindus and other minority communities in Bangladesh, calling it unfortunate.

Several Hindu temples, households, and businesses have been vandalised since Monday after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled to India amid deadly protests over a controversial job quota system.

During the Zero Hour of the Lok Sabha, BJP MP Anurag Thakur confronted the Leader of Opposition, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, alleging that he has not addressed the safety of minorities in Bangladesh. Thakur highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had congratulated the interim government in Bangladesh but also urged them to ensure minority safety.

Rudra Narayan Pany, BJP MP from Odisha's Dhenkanal, called for Indian government intervention to ensure the safety of Hindu temples in Bangladesh. He condemned the attacks, including those on Lord Jagannath statues, and stressed that this has hurt people across India.

Dilip Saikia, BJP MP from Assam's Darrang-Udalguri, echoed the call for stronger security along the India-Bangladesh border, emphasizing the need for peace and protection of minorities in the neighboring country. Bishnu Pada Ray, BJP MP from Andaman and Nicobar Islands, recounted personal history to underscore the gravity of the situation, urging opposition parties like Congress, CPI(M), and TMC to condemn the violence posthaste.
