Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, on Saturday accused the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government of conspiring to frame him and other BJP leaders in fabricated cases.
Addressing the press in Nagpur, Fadnavis alleged that the Uddhav Thackeray-led administration's efforts were thwarted by upright officials who refused to file false charges. His statement comes in response to ex-Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh’s allegations that former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh pressured him to target BJP leaders.
Fadnavis claimed multiple conspiracies were hatched to imprison him and other BJP leaders, but they were exposed in time, with substantial video evidence submitted to the CBI. He highlighted the integrity of certain officials who resisted lodging fake cases. Fadnavis' comments come amid a continuing verbal clash with Deshmukh, who he accused of attempting to frame key politicians to topple the BJP.
