Independent MLA Ravi Rana, representing Badnera assembly constituency in Maharashtra, faces criticism after threatening to revoke funds under the 'Ladki Bahin' financial assistance scheme if women didn't vote for him in the upcoming state elections.

During a public event in Amravati, Rana, a Mahayuti government ally, declared his intention to double the scheme's monthly amount from Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,000 post-elections, stressing his brotherly bond with the beneficiaries.

Opposition leaders, including Vijay Wadettiwar and Supriya Sule, condemned his remarks as manipulative, with Sule challenging Rana's stance. Despite his later claims of joking, the comments have sparked a broader debate about the scheme's electoral motivations.
