The United States has expressed support for India's involvement in mediating peace amid the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, according to US State Department Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel. Patel made the remarks while addressing potential upcoming travels by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Ukraine.
'We are in touch with our Indian partners on a number of issues and, of course, would welcome India's engagement in the war between Russia and Ukraine, especially as it relates to ensuring that we get to a just and durable peace,' Patel noted during his daily news conference on Wednesday.
Though no official announcement has been made, it is speculated that Modi will visit Poland and Ukraine from August 21 to 23, further emphasizing India's active role in international diplomacy concerning the conflict.
