AIADMK Executive Committee Unanimously Backs Palaniswami Amid Strategy Talks

In an AIADMK executive committee meeting held in Chennai, the party reaffirmed Edappadi K Palaniswami's leadership while passing nine resolutions addressing state and federal issues. The discussions also focused on organizational changes in preparation for the 2026 elections.

At the AIADMK headquarters in Chennai, the party's executive committee convened on Friday under the leadership of General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami. The committee, comprising over 230 members, unanimously backed Palaniswami and strategized for the upcoming local body and state assembly elections slated for 2026.

During the meeting, nine resolutions were adopted, beginning with a vote of thanks to AIADMK voters and cadres for their efforts in the 2024 General Elections. The committee criticized the ruling DMK for various administrative failures, including mishandling ration supplies, rising electricity bills, and discontinued welfare schemes. The DMK’s track record on law and order and unfulfilled election promises also came under scrutiny.

Further, the AIADMK resolutions addressed federal concerns, condemning the Union Government for neglecting Tamil Nadu in the latest budget. The party demanded the withdrawal of the 18% GST on life and health insurance and called for the Wayanad landslides to be declared a national disaster. Discussions also included potential adjustments to party bylaws and organizational reforms as the AIADMK gears up for the 2026 elections.

In preparation for these elections, Palaniswami had previously held a review meeting with constituency functionaries to analyze the party's performance in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where the AIADMK secured only one seat compared to the DMK's 22 seats in Tamil Nadu.
