In his first direct contact with New Delhi since becoming the head of Bangladesh's interim government, Mohammad Yunus on Friday assured Prime Minister Narendra Modi of prioritizing the protection and safety of Hindus and other minority groups.
Modi reaffirmed India's unwavering support for a democratic, stable, peaceful, and progressive Bangladesh during the phone conversation initiated by Yunus. He stressed the importance of safeguarding minorities in the violence-stricken nation following recent turmoil.
The assurance from Yunus followed Modi's Independence Day address, where he emphasized India's concern over the safety of Hindus and minorities in Bangladesh. The leaders also discussed bolstering bilateral relations aligned with national priorities.
