A fresh murder case has been lodged against Bangladesh's ex-prime minister Sheikh Hasina, implicating her and 62 others, including former cabinet ministers, over the death of a fish trader amidst quota reform protests, according to a media report on Monday.
The case, filed late Sunday by Shahnaz Begum, widow of Md Milon, accuses Hasina and her affiliates of orchestrating violent responses to student demonstrations against government job quotas, leading to Milon's death on July 21.
This latest charge contributes to an escalated legal onslaught against the 76-year-old leader, who fled to India following a significant protest movement, resulting in over 230 fatalities and the eventual establishment of an interim government led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus.
