Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis declared on Monday that he would resign from politics if Chief Minister Eknath Shinde confirmed that he was obstructing the Maratha quota process. This assertion comes in light of allegations made by activist Manoj Jarange.

Chief Minister Shinde defended Fadnavis, emphasizing that governmental decisions are made collectively. Speaking at a press conference, Fadnavis stated, 'Should CM Eknath Shinde assert that my presence poses a hindrance to reaching a decision concerning the Maratha quota, I shall tender my resignation and withdraw from politics.'

Shinde, in his defense of Fadnavis, pointed out that during Fadnavis's term as Chief Minister, he had actually granted reservation to the Maratha community, refuting Jarange's baseless claims. Jarange has been advocating for the implementation of the state's notification to grant Marathas reservation under the OBC category and the issuance of Kunbi certificates to the Maratha community.
